Solar Energy for 85 Rural Schools in Argentina
In Argentina, there are a lot of rural schools without electricity. Now, the provincial minister of education, from Corrientes, has invested 2 million dollars in a program to bring solar power to those schools. This program is part of a national attempt to eradicate the absence of electricity in the remote areas of Argentina.
During the next months, engineers will install the solar cells provided by a Spanish firm in each school. In time, the school’s directors will have to take responsibility for the solar system.

Since 1995, the Argentinian government has decided to invest part of the education budget in solar energy. It wasn’t until 2005 that Corrientes began to take into account how many schools were so remote that conventional energy didn’t reach them. They needed to invest in some kind of renewable energy. Since then, 85 schools have acquired the benefit of solar energy. I hope the national government will follow this provincial example and bring solar power to the children in all remote areas.

It is very poor, they have no electricity, and they only have two classroom for 70 pupils.
The kids have lunch at school, but there are not enough plates for everyone to eat.
It is a great experience to learn how they live… but it is very sad too.
