Believe it or not, inspiring and effective political personalities do exist. Not only that, but they are the sort of figures a country should expect to lead them.
With the US presidential election on the doorstep, both the candidates are bandying promises of “change.” This week’s spotlight, Political Leaders You Can Believe In, will seek to reveal politicians who have already succeeded in delivering on the promise of positive change. In doing so, we hope to raise the bar for the US presidential candidates and encourage voters to hold the candidates to some of the following pledges.
- A significant increase in alternative energy
- Aggressive action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- A thriving sector of green collar jobs
- A stable economy
- Sustainable food production
- Widely accessible health care
- Safeguarded civil rights
- Focus on improving education
- Care for those who need it
- Legislation preventing a population from outstripping its natural resources
These are arguably the precepts of a successful and sustainable modern-day society. Stay tuned-in this week as we present local, regional, national, and international political leaders who have actively and successfully accomplished some of the above goals. Then, get involved in the political system in your country, region, or hometown and help hold your government representatives accountable for accomplishing the goals you believe in.
