Online Travel Journal Contest- $1000 Voucher to Winner

Our friends at the new site MapVivo.com are having a travel writing contest. To enter, you simply need to write a short travel journal for the site, upload some photos, and make your trip sound exciting. That’s it!

Among all entries received by June 15th, judges will select the winners from the 10 journals voted most popular by MapVivo users. The grand prize is a $1000 travel voucher to a destination of the winner’s choice. 5 runners up will receive free Bradt Travel guides to the destinations of their choice.

Mark Seall, a former EcoWorldly writer, is one of the creators behind MapVivo (you might remember such hit stories from Mark as “Snowmen to Become the Next Endangered Species” and “Five (very good) Reasons for Home Made Renewable Energy in Britain“).

I asked him if EcoWorldly’s readers would find interest in writing travel journals on MapVivo, a site geared more toward travel experiences in their most general form. Here’s what Mark said:

So far, MapVivo doesn’t have many travel journals that didn’t involve thousands of tons of CO2. That said, we’d like to improve in that area, and also we think that travel provides more possibilities for understanding the issues of our world, when done right, which by far outweighs the consequences. Staying at home and not exploring our world won’t be the answer to our environmental issues.

So we will be providing en eco-travel focus section very soon. There are little data so far on weather eco-travel is popular, but it should be. EcoWorldly readers therefore have an opportunity to lead the way - they can share their eco-travels and show the world that travel can be done responsibly.
